As some of you may already know, I was suspended from Deviantart for two weeks.
The reason was that one of my NSFW previews was considered unacceptable because it (supposedly)portrayed underage fictional characters in a sexual situation.
I was in contact with the deviantart staff for several days due to this, and I must say I'm really disappointed.
It felt like talking to a wall, and to be honest I'm pretty sure the staff members are instructed to reply only with copy-pasted replies, that never answer properly and just repeat the same information over and over again. When I asked about why my work was considered unappropriate and why my censoring was not enough, after a long conversation, they ended up telling me that there are no clear guidelines and each member of the staff has the authority to decide what makes it unappropriate when it comes to underage fictional characters. So it's almost completely arbitrary.
You just have to be unlucky enough to be reported, which explains why there are severe punishments for some people and none at all for others, regardless of how "unacceptable" their submissions may be.
I can't deny that I owe a lot to deviantart; the community is great, I've been able to meet friends, commissioners and artists that inspire me, all thanks to this site. And as inconvenient as it may be, there really is no other site this big and this well organized when it comes to sharing art. But it makes me sad to know how little we mean as users to the people who run the place.
In the end, I supposed whoever reported me, won. I won't submit any more NSFW content to deviantart, not even previews. I'll still take NSFW commissions, but I will only share them on Tumblr and Patreon. And I will delete from my gallery any NSFW preview that has characters that are or were underage at some point in their fictional universe.

This has also made me reconsider my commission system.
From now on, I'd like to ask for the email of each of my commissioners before we start working together, that way I won't have to depend on deviantart to communicate with them.I'd also advice everyone to follow me on Patreon, if you're interested. You can follow me on Patreon without supporting me economically, and that's where I posted what I worked on while I was suspended from Deviantart. So in case something like this happens again, it'd be good if everyone knew other places to find me.
Well, with all that out of the way, it's time to start working on commissions again!
